Birth Story ✨🫶🤍

To me , my birth story is kinda funny 🤣 so it was just a normal day , I was 38 weeks pregnant , I had gotten up earlier than usual cause me and my boyfriend go to work at 6 am but I was on my maternity leave already so I wanted to make him breakfast to wake up to. ISo mine you it’s like 4:30 AM I’m like half way done and I just feel liquid start coming out of me 😭 I’m so confused , like real life soooo confused 🤣 it didn’t stop so I went to the toilet , my boyfriend finally comes downstairs and i called him to the bathroom and I’m just laughing because that’s what I do when I’m nervous 🥲 and I tell him I think my water broke because k knew I wasn’t peeing because it didn’t feel like I was going pee. He kept asking me if he should stay home , if I was okay and honestly I was perfectly fine lol. All throughout the day I just felt uncomfortable , not in pain and what’s funny is I already had a doctor’s appointment scheduled for that day so I just waited to see what my doctor was gonna say and as soon as he checked me he was like “ yup you’re in labor you need to leave here and go to the hospital “ mind you it was like 4pm , we go to the hospital and I’m not in like active labor until like 10 pm , they gave me the pitocin and that’s when shiit got real 😭 I didn’t get an epidural but I did get one dose of the fentanyl , but I swear it did nothing , the nurse gave it to me and I didn’t know so I went “ are you gonna give it to me or what “ and my boyfriend was like she did calm down 😭 the whole time I wasn’t screaming or anything like the movies make it seem but i definitely was cursing up a storm 🤣 all the nurses kept laughing at me cause everytime I had a contraction it was “ son of a bitch “ or “ fucking shiit “ and oh boy did those ice chips come in handy , I just kept having my mom feed them to me , I would literally just look up and go “ ah “ like I was a baby 🤣 alllll mf night 😭 baby girl didn’t come until 1 am the next day which wasn’t a problem for me because she was born on Valentines Day just like I wanted 🥹🫶 but I was legit in labor for almost a full 24 hours , it was real life insane. And even with no epidural the two worst parts were 1. The IV and 2. The stitches 🥲🥲

... Read moreOkay, so you've heard 'birth story' and maybe even 'crowning' in movies, but what is crowning really like when it's actually happening? When I was pregnant, I heard the term, but it hit differently when I was deep into labor. For all you mamas-to-be out there, or just curious minds, let me break it down from my perspective, because it’s a moment etched in my memory. Crowning is essentially that incredible, intense moment when your baby's head becomes visible in the birth canal and, unlike earlier pushes, it doesn't slip back in between contractions. It's often described as feeling like a 'ring of fire,' and honestly, that's not far from the truth! Imagine the most intense pressure you've ever felt, combined with a stretching and burning sensation. It sounds daunting, but it's also your body yelling, "We're almost there!" It’s a very clear, undeniable sign that your precious newborn baby is literally moments away from making their grand entrance. During my own pushing phase, amidst all the focused effort, the nurses kept that encouraging chant going: "Just a little more, we see the head!" That's how you know you're officially at the crowning stage. It's an incredibly intense mix of pain, immense pressure, and an overwhelming, almost primal, urge to push harder. For me, it was a moment of pure, raw focus, remembering every bit of strength I had, and trusting my body. The feeling of that immense pressure against my pregnant belly was unlike anything else I'd ever experienced, a true test of endurance. Why is crowning such a pivotal moment? Well, it signifies that your body has done the incredible work of opening up completely, allowing your baby's head – often the widest part – to pass through the pelvic bones. It’s the peak of the second stage of labor, where your contractions are working in perfect harmony with your pushing to guide your little one into the world. Your medical team becomes your ultimate cheerleaders and coaches, guiding you, sometimes asking you to push gently, or even to 'pant' through a contraction to help prevent tearing. This part truly felt like a profound partnership – between me, my body, and the amazing healthcare professionals. Once the head crowns, the most challenging part, in many ways, is often over. With just a few more concerted pushes, the rest of the body typically follows fairly quickly and smoothly. It’s a moment of immense relief, followed almost instantly by pure, unadulterated joy as you finally get to meet your little one face-to-face. That indescribable feeling of holding my newborn baby against me for skin-to-skin contact, feeling their warmth, made every single push, every single 'ring of fire' sensation, absolutely worth it. It’s a moment of triumph, not just for the pregnant person, but for the entire family. It's a powerful and transformative experience, one that really brings home the journey from that first flutter in your baby bump to finally welcoming your child. While my initial birth story didn't delve into the precise mechanics of crowning, it's an undeniable and often unforgettable part of many vaginal births. Understanding these stages, even just a little, can make a huge difference in feeling prepared, empowered, and less anxious during labor. So, if you're on your own journey to motherhood, know that crowning is your body's incredible way of completing its most important mission – bringing your precious baby safely into your arms!

Wait, they gave you fentanyl? I’ve never heard of that before. I only hear about that drug in regards to it lacing ppls w33d and k!lling them. Never as a substitute for, what I’m assuming was pain meds? The gave me oxy after birth but I had a c section and had to take it while a nurse was present.
