Things NO ONE tells you about, POSTPARTUM…

I’m sure there’s more than I will have on my list so Mommas drop “yours” in the comments below.

✨I didn’t now how much your bladder could be affected after birth. Like I stood up to go to the bathroom after birth and my bladder would just release. I had no control over it for a few weeks. I wish I would have been warned that this was even something that could happen.

✨That REST and not picking up anything heavier than your baby (meaning no laundry etc.) can TRULY HELP YOU HEAL WAY FASTER! And not standing for long stents.

✨ After postpartum bleeding you can get a yellow discharge, that’s totally normal. Your hormones are changing (progesterone and estrogen cause discharge) before and after baby.

✨You can stay swollen for quite some time after birth. Your body can retain a lot of water for awhile after birth.

✨If you breastfeed 🤱 for your supply not to drop you need to drink enough water and eat a good amount of protein. Electrolytes are great for keeping you hydrated if you can afford it. Coconut water is a no sugar option.

✨Postpartum brain 🧠 is a REAL thing proven by science. Our bodies are wired solely to focus on our baby so even simple task and words get jumbled during this time and can continue up to a year. It’s ok momma it’s completely normal.

... Read morePostpartum recovery is a journey filled with surprises that often go unshared. Many new moms experience bladder control issues, an unexpected reality that can persist for weeks. It's essential to take adequate rest and avoid lifting heavy objects to expedite the healing process. Notably, hormonal changes can lead to a yellow discharge post-birth, which is entirely normal and should not cause alarm. Retention of water and swelling can occur, causing discomfort and prolonging postpartum changes in your body. For breastfeeding mothers, staying hydrated and consuming a protein-rich diet is critical to maintain milk supply. Incorporating electrolytes, such as coconut water, can further support hydration. Moreover, the phenomenon known as postpartum brain is scientifically recognized, leading to forgetfulness and difficulty concentrating. This cognitive shift is a natural part of adjusting to motherhood, lasting up to a year. Understanding these realities helps normalize and destigmatize the postpartum experience, allowing moms to navigate their new roles with greater ease and assurance.
