I used to think healing meant becoming softer all the time.
Sometimes it actually means:
saying no faster,
walking away sooner,
trusting your own instincts,
and finally believing in yourself the first time. 🩵
Healing isn't always a gentle, softening process; sometimes, it's about becoming stronger and more assertive. From personal experience, I’ve found that healing involves recognizing when to say no without guilt and walking away from situations that no longer serve your wellbeing. At first, I believed healing was about being more tolerant or forgiving, but I've come to understand that real growth means honoring your feelings quickly and confidently. Trusting your own instincts plays a crucial role, especially when navigating relationships or making important life decisions. Living in Cheyenne, Wyoming, I’ve experienced how the quiet surroundings encourage self-reflection and strength. You learn to listen closely to your inner voice and respond without hesitation. This newfound conviction makes me 'meaner' in the best way—more protective of my energy and time. An unexpected part of healing can be embracing a tougher attitude, not as a sign of bitterness but as a shield of self-respect.
