My thyroid journey

Hello. I know I’ve posted a bit on here but I have a new one. About 12 years ago we noticed a growth on my neck. After it kept growing we went to an endocrinologist and test were done, biopsy and ultrasound. He confirmed a benign growth inside my left thyroid but claims it’s not cancerous and is likely to go away. After a few years I was sent to another endocrinologist and he told me the same thing it’s not dangerous and we don’t need to do anything about it just monitor. I finally went to a third Dr this time he looked at all my test and first thing he said is we are taking it out. Turns out it had grown to be 3 inches wide. A month later I was getting the surgery done. I’m glad I kept trying to find someone to help. It hasn’t been easy but it will be worth it in the end. #thyroidectomy #thyroidectomyjourney #scar

When a nodule grows to a significant size—mine reached 3 inches—it can cause discomfort and anxiety about possible cancer risks. Although some specialists reassured me it was harmless, I eventually sought a third opinion where surgery was recommended. The decision is deeply personal and depends on factors like growth, symptoms, and risk assessment. Post-thyroidectomy, managing recovery and understanding hormone replacement became vital. Sharing my scars and story not only helps me heal emotionally but might give others hope. I encourage people to educate themselves about thyroid conditions, seek knowledgeable endocrinologists, and trust their intuition if something doesn’t feel right.
