Cortisol is a hormone in our body and if you have imbalanced hormones it can leave you in a state of fight or flight.
Cortisol is the primary stress hormone, it increases glucose in our blood stream which aids in repairing tissue.
If your body spends a long time in a chronic period of high stress, it will start pumping out too much cortisol creating high cortisol in our body, which you do not want. 70-80% of people admit to being highly stressed.
5 General signs that you have too much cortisol include:
1️⃣ Face and stomach weight gain
2️⃣ Extreme Fatigue
3️⃣ Anxious
4️⃣ Constant brain fog
5️⃣ Leaky gut, digestion and stomach issues
When I realized I was dealing with high cortisol I started adding new things to my daily routine that helped me support healthy cortisol levels.
A friend of mine knew how much I was struggling and shared a duo with me that supports healthy cortisol and hormone levels and it changed my life. Within 3 days of adding this, I began feeling significantly better. I finally started losing weight, my face slimmed, my spiraling thoughts stopped and my brain fog cleared. I’m sleeping amazing, and I finally have motivation again. I had more patience with my husband and no longer feeling overwhelmed. I’m now down 18 pounds, multiple jean sizes, and feel better than I ever have

Cortisol, often called the body’s primary stress hormone, plays a crucial role in managing your body’s response to stress by increasing blood glucose to aid tissue repair. However, chronic stress can cause an unhealthy surge in cortisol levels, leading to various metabolic and psychological issues. High cortisol manifests through weight gain concentrated on the face and stomach, persistent fatigue, anxiety, cognitive impairment like brain fog, and digestive problems such as leaky gut. This hormone imbalance triggers the body’s fight or flight response, preventing relaxation and recovery. Recent studies emphasize the importance of managing cortisol naturally. Incorporating supportive supplements aimed at hormone regulation can help restore healthy cortisol levels. Many people report significant improvements within days, including decreased inflammation, weight loss, clearer thinking, improved sleep, heightened motivation, and reduced irritability. Supplementation should complement lifestyle changes, including regular physical activity, stress reduction techniques like meditation, balanced nutrition, and adequate sleep. For example, adaptogenic herbs such as ashwagandha and rhodiola have evidence backing their role in supporting adrenal function and lowering stress-related cortisol spikes. It’s important to address inflammation as well, as systemic inflammation can exacerbate weight gain and energy depletion. Anti-inflammatory diets rich in fruits, vegetables, and omega-3 fatty acids contribute to hormone balance and gut health. Weight loss during cortisol normalization occurs as the hormone’s regulation reduces fat accumulation around vulnerable areas like the belly and face. This also supports better metabolic rates and energy usage. If you experience signs of hormone imbalance, consulting healthcare providers or endocrinologists can offer personalized strategies and testing to ensure effective management. Understanding and addressing high cortisol not only improves physical health but also mental clarity and emotional stability, forming the foundation for a healthier, more balanced lifestyle.
