For years I thought I just needed more discipline.

Eat less.

Work out harder.

Push through exhaustion.

But nothing changed.

I was puffy all the time.

My weight wouldn’t budge.

I was exhausted during the day but wired at night.

And waking up at 3am like clockwork.

I didn’t realize my cortisol was completely out of balance.

When your body stays in stress mode for too long, it can hold onto fat, disrupt your sleep, spike cravings, and drain your energy even when you’re doing everything “right.”

Once I started supporting my cortisol instead of constantly stressing my body out, everything began to shift.

27 lbs down.

From a size 12/14 to a size 6 in jeans.

Sleeping through the night again.

Energy that actually lasts all day.

Your body isn’t broken.

It may just be stuck in survival mode.

If these symptoms sound familiar, comment CORTISOL for help.

... Read moreFor a long time, I believed that simply pushing myself harder—eating less and exercising more—would solve my weight and energy struggles. But despite all my efforts, I remained constantly puffy, tired during the day, and unable to sleep through the night. It wasn't until I learned about cortisol, the stress hormone, and how it impacts the body that everything started to make sense. Cortisol's role goes far beyond just responding to stress. When cortisol levels are chronically elevated, the body stays in a prolonged 'survival mode,' which can lead to stubborn belly fat, brain fog, fatigue, and disrupted sleep patterns, including waking up at 3am consistently. These symptoms are often overlooked or misattributed to poor discipline or lifestyle choices. Supporting cortisol balance requires a holistic approach rather than the usual diet-and-exercise fixes. For me, this involved prioritizing stress management techniques like meditation, gentle movement such as yoga, and incorporating nutrient-dense foods that support adrenal health. I also reduced stimulants like caffeine and focused on establishing a calming pre-bedtime routine to improve sleep quality. Recognizing these signs early is key: a puffy face, unmovable belly fat, exhaustion paired with nighttime alertness, and waking up at the same hour each night can all be red flags of cortisol imbalance. Rebalancing cortisol does not mean your body is broken—it means your system needs support to move out of survival mode and back into balance. Sharing my experience, I encourage others facing similar challenges to look beyond just discipline and consider the underlying hormonal factors. If any of these signs resonate, seeking guidance on cortisol support could be the turning point. Remember, sustainable weight loss and better energy come from aligning body and mind rather than pushing through stress blindly.

If you’re new here, I’m 44, had a hysterectomy 10 years ago, have 4 boys, and I’m down 53 pounds so far. I still have more to lose, but this is the first time in my adult life I’ve felt like I’m moving in the right direction. I’d love for you to stick around and help me cross the finish line.
