Cool dinner at Orient Pearl with Kisha. It wasn't the adventure I thought it would be. Found the spot on one of my Social Media platforms, but they must have used lot of A.I. art. What I saw made it look like we were going to Lil' Korea and they had a hidden Oriental Garden hidden in Duluth, lol 🤣🤣🤣.
We had Braised Pork Belly w/white rice & Roast Duck.
Those little tea cups be hot as hell. It was an amazing Jasmine- Green tea that you didn't need sugar for...it was surprisingly good.
Visiting Oriental-themed restaurants can be quite an adventure, especially when expectations are set by imaginative online images. My dinner at Orient Pearl was a blend of discovery and delightful surprises. The ambiance didn’t quite mirror the garden-like fantasy promoted online, possibly influenced by AI-generated artwork, but the food itself delivered comfort and flavor. Braised pork belly remains a favorite dish in many Asian cuisines. What I appreciate most about it is the tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture balanced with a savory sauce, making it perfect when paired with fluffy white rice. The roast duck was equally satisfying, showcasing crispy skin and juicy, well-seasoned meat. Both dishes are staples that offer a taste of traditional Asian cooking at its best. Another highlight was the jasmine green tea served in small, traditional cups that were surprisingly hot to handle but immensely flavorful. This kind of tea is a wonderful cleanse for the palate, with sweet and floral notes that make added sugar unnecessary. Sharing this experience with a friend added to the enjoyment, making the night memorable beyond the food itself. For those exploring culinary spots inspired by Asian cultures, it’s good to keep an open mind about the ambiance, as some venues might prioritize visual digital appeal over decor authenticity. However, the heart of the experience often shines through the dishes and company. Orient Pearl, in this case, offered a cozy setting with quality food and tea, making it a worthy stop for lovers of Asian cuisine in Duluth. If you are inclined to try it, come prepared for a culinary experience grounded in flavor rather than intricate decor. Also, be ready to appreciate the traditional ways of serving tea, which enhances the closeness to cultural dining practices. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal worth sharing.
