... Read moreAs someone living with Tourette’s syndrome, I’ve found that exploring different activities can really help manage my tics and stress. One surprising discovery has been axe throwing. Initially, I was unsure if a physically demanding and focused activity like this would be a good fit, but it turned out to be quite therapeutic. Axe throwing requires concentration and controlled movements, which can help divert attention from tics and provide an emotional outlet. The rhythmic nature of throwing axes allows me to focus my energy and experience a sense of accomplishment. It’s also a social activity, creating opportunities to interact with others who bring positive vibes and encouragement. If you have Tourette’s or know someone who does, trying something unconventional like axe throwing can be a fun way to break routine and channel nervous energy. It’s important to listen to your body and go at your own pace, but the benefits—like improved focus, stress reduction, and a boost in confidence—are worth exploring.

I suffer from acquired Touretts, and I'm sure it makes you ambidextrous! Come on girl, you could take down 2 at once, you've got it in you, Lagertha. Love your extracurricular activity choice, are there teams? Thanks for sharing this, B.E.
