So, I am in my late 30s, and regulating my glucose is something I must do intentionally. Who would have thought? 😩
Diabetes runs in my family, but I know that doing the work to help my body as much as possible is important.
I have always enjoyed protein shakes. However, I use them more often now. This week I took a break from Oikos and HEB brands, and I grabbed Premier instead. I like switching it up so that I don’t get too bored with one brand or the flavors of the brand.
Since Premier has these “Indulgence” flavors, I had to try one!
For now, I am not on any medication to lower my A1C. The strategy is watching what I eat and prioritizing more protein and fiber with fewer carbohydrates of course.
Upon my next appointment, my doctor and I can have a conversation about whether any other changes are necessary.
I strongly suggest a dietician to help you on this journey as the accountability factor has been a game-changer for me.
I am in a “pre-diabetic” range, and while making lifestyle changes and exercising more can help you manage diabetes, some people need more than this alone based on their lab work.
One thing is for certain, diabetes does not discriminate. I only have one body, and I plan to take care of it as best as possible.
How are you regulating your glucose? Comment below.
... Read moreAs someone in my late 30s managing prediabetes, incorporating Premier Protein shakes into my routine has been a game-changer. The varieties like Cookie Dough and Chocolate Covered Strawberry offer not only delicious indulgence but also pack 30 grams of protein per serving with relatively low calories and carbs, which supports steady glucose levels.
What I've found helpful is pairing these shakes with high-fiber foods throughout the day. Fiber helps slow carbohydrate absorption, which complements the high-protein intake to maintain better blood sugar balance. I also look closely at the nutrition labels, such as the 160 to 170 calorie range and around 3 grams of sugar in each shake, which keeps the impact on my glucose manageable.
Switching from other brands like Oikos or HEB to Premier Protein adds variety, preventing flavor boredom and helping me stick to my nutritional goals. Having these indulgent flavors satisfying my sweet tooth without the extra sugar is a big bonus.
An essential part of my strategy has been accountability by working with a dietitian who monitors my progress and helps tailor my diet to my needs. Lifestyle changes, including regular exercise and mindful eating, are vital complements to choosing the right protein shakes.
For anyone managing blood sugar or prediabetes, I recommend trying Premier Protein's range, especially the Indulgence line, as a tasty, convenient protein boost that fits well into a balanced, glucose-conscious diet. Remember, personal experimentation and professional guidance are key for long-term health success.
Thanks for the reply…. I’m gonna try it ☺️
