How to fix your sleep schedule 💤

Following these recommendations have elevated my sleep tenfold!!

It’s really important to be consistent with these habits in order to get better sleep long term. Doing it a day or two, won’t make a difference but consistency with these habits can have a huge positive impact on fixing your sleep schedule

— Start your day with natural sunlight

— Avoid caffeine intake 8 hours before bedtime

— Avoid bright, artificial light after dark (opt for using red light after dark instead)

— Create a supportive sleep environment

(sleep in a cool/dark room, use blackout shades, use a sleep mask if needed, don’t sleep with phone in room)

— Maintain consistent sleep and wake times day to day and aim for 7-9 hours of sleep a night. Do your best to be asleep by 10 pm

— Consider supplementing with magnesium to promote restful sleep

— Try not to eat super late at night as this can interfere with sleep and minimize having your last meal of the day being your largest meal of the day. Avoid drinking too many liquids before bed as well

— Consider a evening wind down routine: reading a book, taking a bubble bath, journaling, deep breathing, yoga or stretching to calm the body

Start your day by soaking up natural sunlight to regulate your body’s internal clock, and steer clear of caffeine at least eight hours before bedtime. Transition into the evening by minimizing exposure to bright, artificial lights. Instead, opt for red light which can help signal to your body that it's time to wind down. Creating an optimal sleep environment is also key; ensure your room is dark and cool, and consider using blackout curtains or a sleep mask to block out any intrusive light. To further enhance sleep quality, be consistent with your sleep and wake times, aiming for 7-9 hours of restorative sleep each night, ideally falling asleep by 10 pm. If you frequently struggle to fall asleep, you might explore magnesium supplements, known for promoting restful sleep. It’s also advisable to avoid heavy meals late at night, as digestion can interfere with your ability to sleep soundly. Limit your liquid intake before bed to reduce nighttime awakenings. Finally, incorporate a calming evening routine. Engaging in activities like reading, journaling, or gentle yoga can create a relaxed state, preparing your body and mind for a peaceful night’s rest.
