🍎 Cinnamon Sugar Apple Fritters 🍎
Ingredients (Makes about 20 fritters)
For the Fritters:
4–5 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Granny Smith recommended), peeled and diced into ½-inch pieces
1 tbsp lemon juice
½ tsp ground cinnamon
1 tbsp granulated sugar (to toss apples)
Dry Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
Wet Ingredients:
1 large egg (room temperature)
½ cup milk
½ tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp melted butter
For Frying & Coating:
3 cups vegetable oil (or neutral oil for frying)
¾ cup granulated sugar
1½ tsp ground cinnamon (for cinnamon sugar coating)
Instructions
Toss the Apples:
In a small bowl, combine diced apples, lemon juice, cinnamon, and sugar. Set aside while preparing the batter.
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Combine Wet Ingredients:
In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter until well blended.
Make the Batter:
Add wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix — it should be slightly lumpy. Fold in the prepared apples.
Heat the Oil:
In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (use a thermometer for best results).
Fry the Fritters:
Using a 1-inch cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop batter into the hot oil (do not overcrowd). Fry 4–5 at a time for about 2 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Drain and Cool Slightly:
Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on a wire rack or paper towels for 1–2 minutes.
Coat in Cinnamon Sugar:
While still warm, roll or toss the fritters in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
Serve and Enjoy:
Serve immediately while warm and crispy. These are best eaten fresh!
