Onion Boil with Seafood in Air fryer 🧅🍤

1️⃣ Ingredients (p2)

-Frozen seafood mix or fresh would be even tastier

-2 onions

-2 teaspoons of unsalted butter

-4 teaspoons of Old bay seasoning

-2 teaspoons of ground cayenne pepper

-1 teaspoon of white pepper

-1 teaspoon of black pepper

-1 teaspoon of salt

-2 teaspoons of garlic powder

-Parsley flakes

-Optional: onion powder, TJ’s everything but leftover, sesame

2️⃣ (p3) Clean the onions and cut out the center part. Chop the butter stick into smaller pieces and stuff it into the onions

3️⃣ (p4) Drizzle all the powder ingredients on top of the onions. Order doesn’t really matters. But I would do parsley and sesame to the last to make the color looks better. Wrap them in the foil and set the air fryer to 370F for 30 minutes

4️⃣ (p5) While the onions are in the air fryer. Put the seafood in boil water and cook till it boils again. Immediately drain the seafood and leave them on the side.

5️⃣ (p6) After 30 minutes, take the onions out from the air fryer. Open the foil and add the seafood around them. Wrap them again and put them back to the air fryer for another 20 minutes at 370F.

6️⃣ (p7) After 20 minutes, it’s done! Cut the onions and drizzling the seafood and sauce on top of them 🧅

... Read moreI love making seafood dishes at home because they’re both healthy and satisfying, and this onion boil with seafood in an air fryer has quickly become one of my favorites. What’s great about this recipe is how it brings together aromatic onions stuffed with butter and perfectly seasoned seafood, all cooked effortlessly in the air fryer, which cuts down on the usual mess and time. One tip I’ve learned from experience is to use fresh seafood when possible, as it really enhances the overall flavor compared to frozen. However, frozen seafood mix also works great if you’re pressed for time. For seasoning, Old Bay seasoning is a classic choice that pairs beautifully with seafood, but you can customize it by adding a bit more cayenne or even some onion powder to intensify the flavors. When prepping the onions, carefully cutting out the center and filling it with small butter pieces allows the butter to melt inside during cooking, keeping everything moist and infusing the onions with rich flavor. Wrapping everything tightly in foil is essential as it traps steam and helps cook the ingredients evenly without drying them out. Boiling the seafood briefly before returning it to the air fryer ensures it’s cooked through but still tender. After placing the seafood around the cooked onions and seasoning again, finishing it for 20 more minutes at 370F gives it the perfect texture and taste. I also like sprinkling parsley flakes and sesame seeds at the end for a fresh, colorful touch and extra crunch. This meal pairs wonderfully with a simple salad or steamed vegetables for a balanced, nutritious dinner. Using the air fryer makes it convenient, smells amazing, and the cleanup is minimal — perfect for busy weeknights or when you want to impress family and friends with a unique seafood dish.
