Brown sugar butter syrup 🐻🧈🤎
This one is dangerously good in coffee.
You’ll need:
• ½ cup brown sugar
• 2 tbsp butter
• ½ cup milk or half-and-half
• Pinch of salt (if you have it)
How to make it:
1. Melt butter on medium heat.
2. Add brown sugar and stir until dissolved.
3. Slowly whisk in milk/half-and-half.
4. Simmer 5–8 min until syrupy.
5. Add a tiny pinch of salt if available.
I've tried various coffee syrups before, but this brown sugar butter syrup really stands out because of its rich and creamy texture combined with a hint of saltiness, which perfectly balances the sweetness. When preparing it, melting the butter slowly on low heat is crucial to avoid burning and to create a smooth base. Stirring in the brown sugar gradually until completely dissolved ensures the perfect syrup consistency. Using half-and-half instead of milk adds a luxurious creaminess that makes the syrup more decadent. Simmering the mixture for 5 to 8 minutes allows the syrup to thicken nicely, but be mindful not to overcook it as it can become too thick or start to caramelize too much. Adding just a pinch of salt (like a fine sea salt) enhances the flavors and cuts through the sweetness, making it ideal for coffee drinks. I recommend straining the syrup after simmering to ensure any undissolved solids or bits of caramelized sugar are removed, resulting in a smooth pour. This syrup also works wonderfully as a drizzle over pancakes, waffles, or even ice cream, making it a versatile addition to your kitchen. For storing, keep it refrigerated in an airtight container, and warm it slightly before use so it pours easily into your coffee or other treats. Overall, this brown sugar butter syrup is a simple yet irresistible way to upgrade your homemade coffee experience with minimal ingredients and effort.
