Sweet & Spicy Smoky Sausage Easy Recipe

Super easy breakfast or appetizer idea that can be made multiple ways!

Ingredients:

• Lit’l Smokies

• Hot honey OR Spicy Jam OR honey + hot sauce

Directions:

1. On the stove, warm a pan with a very small amount of oil or pan spray.

2. Cook the sausages until they become darker and slightly charred on some sides.

3. You have three options: you can either had hot honey, spicy jam, OR add a bit of honey with hot sauce. Spicy jam is my favorite way to make these - but use whatever you have on hand! Add the ingredient(s) to the pan, and mix. Let the sausage sit in the sauce for a few minutes. You can turn down the heat if necessary.

4. Serve warm and enjoy!

... Read moreOkay, so who else grew up calling those delicious little mini sausages 'wee willie winkies'? Or maybe that was just my family! Whatever you call them, these *smoked sausages*, especially *Hillshire Farm Lit'l Smokies*, are an absolute staple in my kitchen. I get asked all the time for an easy recipe that packs a punch, and this sweet & spicy version is always a hit. It's so versatile, whether you need a quick breakfast idea or a fantastic party appetizer that everyone raves about. While my go-to is often a quick sauté in a frying pan until they're perfectly browned, I've found so many other ways to cook these little gems. If you're feeding a crowd, popping them in the oven is a lifesaver. Just toss your mini sausages with your chosen sauce options – whether it's honey and hot sauce or that amazing spicy jam – and bake until bubbly. For ultimate ease, especially during a party, my slow cooker is my best friend. Just dump everything in, set it on low, and they'll be ready to serve warm for hours. And if you're like me and love a little extra crisp, the air fryer works wonders too! It really depends on how much time I have and how many people I'm serving. Now, I know some of you might be wondering about the nutrition facts for these *mini sausages*. It's smart to be mindful of what we're eating! While I always recommend checking the specific nutrition label on your chosen Hillshire Farm Lit'l Smokies package, generally speaking, they're a good source of protein but can be a bit higher in sodium and saturated fat. It's all about portion control, right? When I'm serving them, I try to balance them with some fresh veggies or a lighter side to make it a more complete meal or snack. Speaking of flavors, what makes these truly irresistible is that perfect balance of *sweet and spicy sausage*. My original recipe mentioned hot honey or spicy jam, and those are fantastic! But don't be afraid to experiment. For an extra kick, a dash of sriracha in your honey and hot sauce mix can really elevate it. Sometimes I'll add a tiny bit of brown sugar or even a splash of pineapple juice for an even sweeter glaze that still has that fiery finish. The beauty is you can customize the spice level to your preference – from a gentle warmth to a full-on fiery treat! I've even tried a maple-sriracha combo that was surprisingly delicious. These aren't just for breakfast or appetizers either. I've tossed them into stir-fries, served them alongside scrambled eggs for a hearty brunch, or even chopped them up and added them to mac and cheese for a fun twist. They're so versatile! And a little tip from my kitchen: if you're making them for a party, they can easily be made ahead and gently reheated. Just make sure they're glazed and ready to go. A sprinkle of fresh parsley or sesame seeds can also make them look extra appealing when you serve them in that inviting *bowl of sweet and spicy smoky sausages*. So next time you're looking for a super easy, incredibly flavorful option, whether you call them Lit'l Smokies or 'wee willie winkies,' give this sweet and spicy recipe a try. You won't regret it!
