day 2 hair can be kinda scary for me when i wake up and my bonnet isn’t in place anymore 😂i never know what im actually gonna get 😭 #curlyhair #curlyhairroutine #curlscheck #curls
Waking up with day 2 curly hair can be a real surprise, especially if your bonnet hasn't stayed perfectly in place overnight. I’ve found that my curls tend to become more unpredictable, sometimes frizzy or flattened in spots, which can be a bit scary at first. However, over time, I’ve embraced this part of my curly hair journey by developing a go-to routine that helps refresh and revive my curls without starting from scratch. One of my favorite tricks is to lightly mist my hair with water or a curl refreshing spray first thing in the morning. This helps to reactivate any curl products still in my hair from the day before, and brings back some bounce. Then, I scrunch my hair gently and use a little bit of leave-in conditioner or curl cream to combat frizz and enhance definition. I avoid heavy products as they can weigh the curls down and make them look greasy. Another hack is to use a satin or silk pillowcase even under the bonnet. This minimizes friction while you sleep and helps your curls stay intact for longer. If my bonnet has moved or come off, this pillowcase ensures my curls don’t get ruined completely. Understanding that day 2 hair can vary greatly depending on my hair type and the products I use has helped me be more patient and creative. Sometimes I embrace the messy, tousled look because it’s unique and shows off my natural texture beautifully. Other days, I might put my hair up or style it differently, turning a potentially awkward hair day into a fresh new look. Ultimately, the key is not to fear what’s "cooking underneath my bonnet," but to enjoy the journey of learning how to work with your curls each day. It’s all part of the beautiful unpredictability and charm of curly hair!
