Balancing It All: I Work, I Write, and I Study
Hey,hey, my favorites 😀 💚
People ask me how I manage it all.
The truth? Some days I don’t.
I work a 9–5.
I write books—41 and counting.
I’m in school, still chasing the next chapter of my story.
Some nights I’m energized. Some nights I’m exhausted.
But every day, I’m doing what I said I would.
I learned that I don’t have to choose just one dream.
I just have to give each one its time.
Progress over perfection. Always.
If you’re like me—juggling a job, a side hustle, and a dream—know that you’re not alone. We out here making it happen ✨

Hey everyone! Building on my earlier post about juggling a 9-5, writing, and studying, I wanted to dive deeper into the *how*. Many of you ask me, "how do you find the time?" or "how do you cope when you're exhausted?" It's a journey, not a destination, but I've picked up some practical strategies for balancing it all that have truly helped me. First off, time management is absolutely crucial when you’re trying to balance work and study, plus a passion like writing. I used to think I had to meticulously plan every minute, but what works better for me now is setting clear priorities and time blocking. Each Sunday, I sit down with my planner (or a simple notebook) and map out my non-negotiables for the week: work hours, class times, and any fixed appointments. Then, I carve out specific blocks for writing and studying. For instance, I know my brain is sharpest for creative work in the mornings, so I try to dedicate an hour to writing before my 9-5 starts. Even if it's just 30 minutes, showing up consistently makes a huge difference. For studying, I often use evenings, but I make sure to schedule breaks. It’s about making appointments with yourself and treating them as seriously as you would a meeting with your boss or professor. Another massive game-changer for me has been energy management. It’s easy to get caught up in the grind and push yourself to the brink. I learned the hard way that exhaustion leads to poor quality work and burnout. So, while I'm passionate about my work, I write, and I study, I also prioritize self-care. This means ensuring I get enough sleep – something I often neglected before. I also build in small breaks throughout my day. A 15-minute walk, a quick meditation, or even just stepping away from my desk for a cup of tea helps refresh my mind. Don't underestimate the power of these little resets. They allow me to come back to my tasks with renewed focus, rather than slogging through them feeling drained. Remember that feeling energized is just as important as having the time. Setting realistic expectations is another key to successful balancing it all. When you're trying to balance work and study along with other passions, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by everything you could be doing. I've learned to embrace "progress over perfection," as I mentioned before. Instead of aiming to write a chapter every day, I might aim for 500 words. Instead of studying for three hours straight, I might break it into 45-minute chunks with short breaks in between. Breaking down larger goals into smaller, manageable steps makes the entire process feel less daunting and more achievable. This mindset shift has been incredibly liberating, allowing me to celebrate small wins and maintain momentum without feeling constantly behind. Finally, don't be afraid to leverage your support system and technology. I use calendar apps religiously to keep track of deadlines and appointments for work, writing, and study. I also communicate openly with friends and family about my commitments. Sometimes, that means saying no to social invitations or asking for a little extra quiet time at home. Having people who understand and support your ambitions makes a huge difference. And if you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, remember that you’re not alone. Many of us are out here juggling multiple dreams, and sharing experiences, like I'm doing here, can provide invaluable insights and encouragement. Keep going, and remember that every step forward, no matter how small, is still progress!
