Weigh In Wednesday

Moment of truth I weighed myself yesterday and without checking automatically ASSUMED that I didn’t lose anything or possibly gained weight and felt some shame about that. Then I looked at my weigh in info for last week and saw that I lost exactly 1 lb. Seeing that encouraged me to do some Pilates this morning. This is officially Day 4 working out. I post this to encourage you to keep going even if you feel shame or embarrassed. ❤️ #aychristene #weightloss #weightlossmotivation #pcos #pcosweightloss #weightlossjourney #bettermeapp

... Read moreThat moment before stepping on the scale... who else feels that pit in their stomach? This 'Weigh In Wednesday,' I really wanted to talk about something crucial: the emotional rollercoaster that comes with a weight loss journey. I stood there, bracing myself, automatically assuming the worst. My mind immediately went to all the small choices I'd made, the snacks, the missed workouts – and shame started creeping in. It's so easy to let those feelings dictate our perception, isn't it? We look at the number and immediately attach our self-worth to it. But here’s what changed for me this week, and what I hope can help you too. Instead of dwelling on that initial negative thought, I made myself look at the actual data from last week. And guess what? I was down 1 lb! One whole pound! It might not sound like a lot to some, but after mentally beating myself up, seeing that objective fact was a game-changer. It wasn't about my faulty assumptions or my self-criticism, it was about the tangible progress. This small win, seeing my weight drop to 193.8 (from last week's slightly higher number), was exactly the spark I needed. That tiny victory propelled me right onto my Pilates mat. It’s officially Day 4 of consistently working out, and I genuinely feel a shift. Pilates isn't just about the physical challenge; it's about connecting with my body, building core strength, and finding a sustainable movement I actually *enjoy*. For anyone managing PCOS, like me, finding exercises that are gentle on the body yet effective can be a challenge. High-impact workouts can sometimes exacerbate inflammation, but Pilates offers controlled movements that strengthen without excessive strain. It's been a fantastic addition to my routine, helping with both physical and mental well-being. If you're on your own weight loss journey, especially if you're dealing with PCOS, remember this: don't let shame or embarrassment win. Those feelings are powerful, but they often cloud our judgment. Celebrate every single win, no matter how small. One pound, half an inch, an extra minute on the treadmill – it all counts. And if the scale doesn't move one week, or even goes up, don't throw in the towel. Look at the bigger picture: Are you making healthier choices overall? Are you feeling better? Are your clothes fitting differently? My advice for 'Weigh In Wednesday' (or any day you weigh yourself): Pick a consistent day and time: First thing in the morning, after using the restroom, before eating or drinking. Focus on trends, not just one number: A single weigh-in can fluctuate. Track it over weeks to see your actual progress. Don't let the number define you: It's just data. It tells you something, but it doesn't tell you everything about your health or worth. Find your movement: Whether it's Pilates, walking, dancing, find something you genuinely enjoy, because consistency is key. Seek support: Share your journey with a friend, a community, or even just journal about it. Knowing you're not alone makes a huge difference. This journey is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be good weeks and challenging weeks. What matters is that we keep showing up for ourselves, learning, adjusting, and most importantly, being kind to ourselves. You've got this! ❤️
