Fixing my skin after moving to Utah …

After dealing with so much dryness and inflammation lately, I finally booked an appointment with a new esthetician @korinsbeautyroom and I’m so excited to start focusing on healing my skin instead of just covering it up!!!

Learning that healthy skin is more about consistency than quick fixes, so here’s to repairing my skin barrier, keeping inflammation down, and being patient with the process ;))

... Read moreMoving to a new environment like Utah can really affect your skin because of the dry climate and higher altitude. I learned the hard way that simply applying makeup to cover irritation or dryness doesn't help in the long run. It was only after seeing an experienced esthetician that I understood the importance of repairing and nurturing my skin barrier. The skin barrier acts as a shield, protecting your skin from irritants and moisture loss. When it becomes damaged due to environmental changes, you might notice more redness, dryness, or sensitivity. Personally, I incorporated gentle cleansing, hydrating serums, and barrier-repair moisturizers with ingredients like ceramides and hyaluronic acid into my routine. Avoiding harsh products, exfoliants, and over-washing was essential to prevent further inflammation. Consistency was key — rather than seeking quick fixes, I committed to a daily regimen, understanding that restoration takes time. Patience helped me appreciate the small improvements, like reduced redness and better hydration. Moisturizers with occlusives like petrolatum also helped lock in moisture during Utah’s dry climate. If you're new to an area with similar conditions, I recommend booking a consultation with a skincare professional who can assess your skin's needs and recommend customized treatments. Also, make sure to protect your skin with sunscreen since high altitudes can increase UV exposure. Ultimately, my journey highlighted that healing sensitive, dry skin after environmental changes is achievable with the right knowledge, consistent care, and a bit of patience. I hope sharing my experience encourages others facing similar skin challenges to focus on nourishing their skin barrier for lasting health.
