Natural Bathroom Cleaning Hack 🧼 : Citric Acid
So I was reading online and doing some research on how to clean your toilet tank. I decided hey I have time, why not. From the pictures I added, I did a shot of before I added anything to the toilet tank, (2) when I just finished adding the citric acid to the toilet tank, (3) when I let it sit for 1 and 25 minutes, (4) after I flushed it out. So this is what I did: Took off the lid and behind the toilet I shut off the water valve. Then I flushed the toilet (there will be a bit of water left inside). Then I added (1) cup of finely grained citric acid into the toilet tank. I got a bucket a started filling up the toilet tank with hot water from the faucet. I didn’t boil the water because I didn’t want the porcelain to crack. I filled it a bit past the line because there was that rust brown ring I was trying to get rid of. You can let it sit for 1-2 hours (I was gonna do 1 hour but got caught up watching something on YouTube, lol). Afterwards, turn the water back on and flush a few times until the water in the tank is clear.
Citric acid in the tank (when used correctly) has many benefits; dissolves hard water minerals, improves flush performance, removes hidden odors, and keeps the toilet bowl cleaner longer.
Did I notice a difference in the before and after pictures? Absolutely!! But I still need to do more research on how to get rid of that brown ring on the top. I did scrub anything so maybe next time I will use a pumice stone and scrub the sides. OR, I can try to leave it for overnight and then use the pumice stone to get whatever residual is left.
