What even is life. Remember when I dropped a profanity-laden (most of them are, I know 😄) post about the gas prices and it resulted in J&I missing a roadtrip back home for the Elmira Maple Syrup Festival?
Well, it caught the eye of CTV National News, and they're sending a reporter from Toronto to meet with me today. 😄 🤣 I'm invited to natter on about our lifestyle, how I travel 🌎 all the time to see my big kids and family back home, our roadtrips including my epic trek out East last winter. Plus - I travel for DJ'ing and how that impacts my business model because I have faithfully included complimentary travel up to 60 clicks for my couples.
😄 🤣 the power of social media. We'll see if it actually airs.
Alright! Busy day! Interview, rollerskating tonight, plus the final touches on J's new music/office space. He's painted the feature wall this rad green that's from the same palatte as the midnight blue in the living room. Should be sickkkkk. And I found this gnarly beat up crate with a lid and 'Toronto' stamped into it while I was out thrifting. Perfect for excess vinyl records. 🤘
Right?! They either don't care, or don't know enough to care at all. Here you are - just out living your life and some thief of joy becomes hellbent on trolling you for 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 (key word: 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳) perceived flaws on the outside of the fishbowl.
Keep swimming.

... Read moreSharing my story about how a simple, candid social media post caught the attention of a national news outlet really drives home the power of being authentic online. I’ve found that when you openly share your experiences — whether it’s frustration with soaring gas prices or the joys and challenges of traveling frequently — people connect with your humanity.
For those who travel often like me, balancing work, family, and passion projects such as DJing offers its own unique challenges and rewards. Including complimentary travel in my business model not only supports my couples but also motivates me to keep pushing forward, no matter where life takes me. It’s important to embrace flexibility and find joy in the journey, even during unexpected roadblocks.
I also learned a valuable lesson about dealing with negativity: it’s crucial to stop explaining yourself to those committed to misunderstanding you. Whether it’s people online or in real life, some just don’t see your full story or care to. Instead, focusing on your own growth, your loved ones, and your personal passions helps you swim forward despite the trolls or critics.
On a lighter note, blending work with everyday life — like setting up a creative office space or finding quirky thrifted gems — adds flavor to your routine and keeps the inspiration flowing. For me, that crate stamped with \"Toronto\" for vinyl records isn’t just storage; it’s a symbol of my roots and passions coming together.
In short, honesty and openness on social media create real impact, both personally and professionally. If you’re navigating a similar path, remember to let your true self shine, embrace the power of your story, and keep moving forward with resilience and creativity.
