5 lies trading influencers sold you that many traders still believe.
Trading is often perceived as complex, largely due to misinformation spread by some influencers. One lie that caught my attention is the idea that "Every High and Low Holds Liquidity." Initially, it seemed intuitive to believe this, as liquidity can often accumulate around such points. However, not all highs or lows serve this purpose, and blindly following this can trap traders into poor decisions. Another misleading concept is the insistence on always looking for reversals. While reversals do happen, focusing solely on them ignores other valuable market signals, like liquidity-driven movements and trend continuations. My own experience taught me the importance of flexibility and interpreting market context rather than rigidly searching for reversals. Fair Value Gaps (FVG) are often touted as support and resistance zones, but in reality, they cannot be treated as straightforward S&R levels. Understanding the origin and behavior of FVGs enables smarter use of these zones — distinguishing when they genuinely impact price action versus when they don’t. Many are led to believe that top-down analysis is mandatory. While it’s a useful tool, trading can be profitable without exhaustive multi-timeframe checks, especially for day traders who focus on intraday price action and liquidity patterns. Finally, the myth that a complicated strategy is necessary to succeed often discourages beginners. Simpler approaches, when executed with discipline and proper risk management, can yield consistent profits. Overcomplicating trades only introduces confusion and errors. Unlearning these lies helped me refine my trading methodology, focusing on core concepts like liquidity, price behavior, and risk control. Trading doesn’t have to be complicated or shrouded in myth. Embrace simplicity, stay skeptical of popular advice, and continuously educate yourself to improve performance and profitability.
