3 things I do to balance my hormones
It wasn’t until I stopped taking the birth control pill that I, for the first time in my life, started to STRUGGLE with acne. If I was menstruating or ovulating I’d get several deep cystic pimples without fail. Like I’m so traumatized I’ve never gotten on birth control again 🥴
Luckily I’ve got a good skincare and wellness routine that keeps everything in check but keeping my hormones balanced is the first step to managing hormonal acne.
These are my best tips to keep everything in tact:
1. Eating lots of healthy fats. Everything starts and ends with your diet. Foods like blueberries, salmon, avocado, nuts etc not only help to balance your hormones but make your skin glow from within!
2. Spearmint tea every night. Herbal teas are the medicine we really need in our lives. Spearmint tea is known to help balance your hormones and relieve cramping. I’ve been drinking it every night for months and haven’t had one cystic breakout in over 3 cycles now!
3. Evening primrose oil. I’ve been taking this for years now and it was first hormonal balancing supplement I took that actually made a difference. I started taking two pills a day but now only take 1 which makes each $17 bottle last me over 4 months!
If you’re struggling with hormonal acne, unfortunately, you’re going to need more than skincare to clear it up. Start from within and find what works best for your body 🧘♀️
