Air Fried Asian Glazed Pork Belly!

Finally got the chance to give my new @fritaire Air Fryer a run and what better way than with some Sticky Asian Glazed Pork Belly.

I love how quick I was able to make this meal and have dinner on the table in less than 30 minutes. This was my first time using an air fryer because I truly was a skeptic, but I can honestly say I am truly impressed with the performance of the Fritaire. With added benefits like the BPA/Teflon free materials you couldn't ask for a better air fryer. I am looking forward to a few more test runs and trying out the included accessories like the rotisserie, tumbler basket & and self-cleaning feature!

Recipe:

Bachans Original

Freshly Grated Garlic, Ginger & Lemongrass

Toasted Sesame Oil

Avocado Oil

Chinese 5 Spice

Brown Sugar

Black Pepper

Kosher Salt

Jamaican Jerk Rub

Cut Pork Belly into 1in cubes and marinate over night

1.Airfry on 350⁰ for about 6 mins, just long enough for the edges to start brown & caramelize

2.Drop temp to 280⁰ & cook for another 10 mins

3.Glazed Pork Belly with remaining marinade mixed with honey

4. Cook another 5 mins

5. Remove from air fryer and toast in pan with marinade & hot honey mixture to completely glaze and thickened up the sauce

If you're anything like me, you might have been skeptical about air fryers, but trust me, they are a game-changer, especially for dishes like this. First off, getting that perfectly crispy exterior on your pork belly is key. I've found that patting the pork belly cubes really dry before marinating helps immensely. Moisture is the enemy of crispiness! Also, don't overcrowd your air fryer basket. Air needs to circulate around each piece for even cooking and browning. If you have a smaller air fryer, it's better to cook in batches. I usually preheat my air fryer for a few minutes before adding the food – it makes a noticeable difference in crisping. While the Bachan's sauce is fantastic for a quick glaze, sometimes I like to play around with my own concoctions. For a really decadent brown sugar glazed pork belly, I'll often simmer a mix of brown sugar, soy sauce, a touch of rice vinegar, grated ginger, and garlic until it thickens slightly. A dash of sriracha or red pepper flakes can kick up the heat if you like a spicy-sticky glaze. If you want a prominent garlic ginger sticky pork flavor, don't be shy with those aromatic ingredients in the marinade and the final glaze. I've even tried adding a spoonful of peanut butter or tahini to the glaze for an extra layer of nutty richness – it’s a bit unconventional but delicious! Marinating overnight truly makes a difference, allowing the flavors to penetrate deeply. But if you're short on time, even an hour in the marinade will impart a good amount of flavor. Just make sure to really massage the marinade into the pork. When it comes to cutting the pork, aim for uniform 1-inch cubes so they cook evenly. Uneven pieces can lead to some being dry while others are still cooking. These glazed pork belly bites aren't just for dinner! They're amazing as appetizers, served with toothpicks, or even tucked into soft bao buns with some pickled veggies. For a full meal, I love serving them over jasmine rice, sprinkled with sesame seeds and fresh green onions. They also make a fantastic addition to noodle bowls or even a quick stir-fry. It's such a versatile dish, and because it's an air fryer glazed pork belly, it feels a little less indulgent than deep-fried versions while still delivering on flavor. And a final thought on air fryers, especially if you have a Fritaire like mine: don't forget to explore all the features! I'm still experimenting with the rotisserie and tumbler basket for other recipes, but the self-cleaning feature is a lifesaver. Properly cleaning your air fryer after each use not only keeps it hygienic but also ensures it performs optimally for every delicious batch of air-fried goodness. Happy cooking!
