Matthew 10:16-23

This isn't just ancient history; it's a blueprint for navigating life as a believer even now. One part that always stands out to me is when Jesus tells them to be 'shrewd as serpents and simple as doves.' It’s such a profound paradox, isn't it? It means we need to be smart and discerning in the world, understanding its complexities and dangers, but also maintain a pure and innocent heart, free from malice. It's about having wisdom without losing our core kindness and faith. I often ask myself, how can I be wise to the ways of the world without becoming cynical or losing my spiritual purity? It’s a delicate balance, but essential for staying true to Christ while still being effective in our mission. The passage also speaks of intense persecution, even *BETRAYAL AND HATRED EVEN FROM THEIR OWN FAMILIES*. This is perhaps the hardest pill to swallow. Imagine the pain of those closest to you turning against you because of your faith. But Jesus offers an incredible promise: 'For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.' This is such a comforting thought. It takes the pressure off, reminding us that when we are called to stand for our faith, GOD WILL GIVE US THE WISDOM AND WORDS we need. We don't have to formulate perfect arguments; we just need to be open vessels for the Holy Spirit. This promise truly encourages me *TO REMAIN FAITHFUL AND NOT FEAR REJECTION*, knowing I won't be alone. *ENDURANCE AND TO CHRIST ARE, WHAT OUR MISSION* is all about. Jesus says, 'whoever endures to the end will be saved.' This isn't a call to masochism, but to steadfastness. It means holding onto our faith, even when THAT FOLLOWING JESUS MAY COME WITH trials and tribulations. When we face opposition, it's a test of our commitment, but also an opportunity to lean more heavily on Him. Our mission to SHARE HIS TRUTH doesn't stop just because it gets hard; in fact, that's often when it becomes most powerful. So, for my daily gospel reflection today, I'm taking away a renewed sense of purpose and trust. This passage from Matthew 10:16-23 isn't just a historical account; it's a living word that prepares us for the spiritual battles we might face. It’s a call to be wise yet pure, brave yet reliant on divine strength, and above all, to endure with unwavering faith. It reminds me that my strength comes from God, and with Him, I can face anything.
