Honest Review of the Halal Gyukatsu restaurant

@gyusei_gyukatsu_sg is the first-ever halal-certified Gyukatsu restaurant in Singapore. They use only A5 Wagyu beef for their Gyukatsu which are smoked over charcoal before serving.

... Read moreIf you’re a fan of Japanese beef cutlets, Gyusei Gyukatsu provides an exceptional dining experience with its halal-certified menu that ensures both quality and compliance. One of the highlights for me was the ability to customize the doneness by searing the ribeye cutlet on the provided grill — this added a personal touch that elevated the dish’s flavor and texture. Each Gyukatsu set is accompanied by 12 different condiments, which let you experiment with a variety of flavor combinations; this made each bite interesting and allowed me to appreciate the subtle differences in taste. While the A5 Ribeye Gyukatsu is pricier at $69++, the tenderness and marbling of the Wagyu justify the splurge. For those on a budget, the weekday lunch sets starting from $33++ are surprisingly satisfying and the best value for money. Do note that the miso soup is on the lighter side, which some may find less flavorful, and the seafood set, offered at $39++, is smaller in portion but a good alternative for non-beef eaters. Gyusei’s unique selling point lies in their charcoal smoking technique and halal certification, a combination that’s rare in Singapore’s gyukatsu scene. It’s a perfect spot if you want authentic Japanese flavors but need to adhere to halal dietary requirements. Overall, I highly recommend trying the weekday lunch sets for an affordable introduction, and if you want to splurge, the A5 Ribeye set promises a rich, melt-in-your-mouth experience paired beautifully with their extensive condiment selection.
