DITL Psychiatry Resident Doctor 🫶👩🏻‍⚕️

Spend a typical day in the life with me as a Psychiatry Resident Doctor. Typically I love to start my days with a 6 AM workout to get it out of the way ! Then breakfast, shower, get ready for work. I'll head in and since I'm in the inpatient psych unit I see my patients, go to treatment team, and work on notes and new admits. When it's finally time, go home, eat dinner, and watch some TV to sleep and do it again !

... Read moreBeing a Psychiatry Resident Doctor means balancing rigorous training with self-care. Each morning starts with a 6 AM workout, essential for maintaining both physical and mental health. Breakfast fuels my day before I head to the hospital, where my duties include engaging with patients in the inpatient psych unit. This demanding environment requires empathy, quick thinking, and often collaborative care during treatment team meetings. The residency experience is known for its challenges, from long hours to emotional stress, but it also brings invaluable rewards, like witnessing patient progress and being part of a supportive medical community. Understanding the importance of self-care, I prioritize downtime with dinner and relaxing shows before starting another busy day. Aspiring medical professionals interested in psychiatry should embrace opportunities to connect with mentors and engage in relevant premed experiences. Each step in this journey builds essential skills and a deep understanding of patient care, preparing residents for a fulfilling career in medicine.
