I can totally relate to the feeling of wanting to go out for a run but then quickly reconsidering because of the cold. For me, the idea of jogging isn’t just about exercise; it’s a moment of self-acceptance and expressing my identity, especially as part of the transgender community. Being a transgender woman, I find that physical activities like jogging can sometimes feel intimidating, not just due to weather but also societal perceptions and personal comfort. In Charleston, where the charm of the city meets variable weather, finding the right motivation to jog can be a playful challenge. Sometimes humor is the best way to cope and express these feelings—like joking about never really going jogging despite the intentions. It’s a reminder to take care of yourself on your own terms without pressure. The hashtags #transgirl, #transwoman, and #transgirl resonate deeply as they connect me with others who understand the unique blend of challenges and joys in our journeys. Safety, comfort, and self-expression are key factors whenever I consider going outside for exercise.
