Crab Cakes
INGREDIENTS
1Ib Crab meat
1/4 Cup peppers finely diced
1/4 Cup onions finely diced
3-4 green onions
1/3 Cup Mayonnaise
1-2 Tsp Old Bay seasoning
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire
1 Tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 Cup Panko bread crumbs
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl gently fold everything together to keep the crab lumps intact.
Cover the bowl tightly and refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour. This lets the ingredients meld and allows the binder to absorb moisture, so the cakes don't fall apart.
I sprayed my crabs cakes with cooking spray.
🔥 Cook crab cakes in the air fryer at 400 for 10 to 15 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown on the outside.
The cooking time and temperature largely depend on their size, whether they are fresh or frozen, and your preferred level of crispiness. MUNCH! #crabcakes #crab #seafood #dinner #EasyRecipe
I've personally found that using lump crab meat is key to really elevating the texture and flavor of crab cakes. The delicate pieces give each bite a light, flaky feel that is much better than shredded crab meat. It’s also important not to overmix the ingredients; gently folding them helps keep those lumps intact. When I make crab cakes, I like to refrigerate the mixture covered for at least 30 minutes before cooking. This resting time lets the flavors meld and the binder absorb moisture, which prevents the cakes from falling apart. Patting the formed cakes lightly with Panko breadcrumbs adds an extra crispy crust when air fried. Cooking crab cakes in an air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit is a game changer – it renders an evenly golden crust without needing extra oil. Flipping them halfway ensures both sides are crisp and delicious. Cooking time varies with the size of the cakes; smaller cakes tend to cook faster. For seasoning, I always rely on a mix of Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, and a hint of Dijon mustard to add depth. Fresh diced peppers and onions introduce a nice crunch and bright flavor, while green onions lend a subtle earthiness. For serving, these crab cakes pair beautifully with a simple tartar sauce or a zesty remoulade. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice right before eating adds a refreshing balance to the richness. Overall, air fryer crab cakes provide a quick, easy, and healthier alternative to frying, keeping the cake moist inside with a satisfying crisp outside. They’re perfect for a family dinner or casual gatherings, as the recipe is easy to double or customize with your favorite herbs and spices.
