Half marathon
First half marathon. No training. Just consistency. I did that 💪🏽🏁”
Completing a half marathon without structured training may sound unconventional, but my experience shows that consistency and mental strength can carry you through the race. Before race day, I maintained a steady routine of light running and walking, focusing on being consistent rather than intense training sessions. This approach helped me build endurance gradually without overwhelming my body. On race day, pacing was crucial. Starting conservatively and maintaining an average pace of 12:22 min/mile helped me avoid early burnout and kept me motivated. Tracking my splits for each milestone—such as hitting mile 1 at 13:39 and reaching 10 km and 15 km splits steadily—offered insight into my progress and helped maintain focus. The atmosphere, along with music and personal motivation, including powerful rap songs that energized me, played a role in pushing me through tough moments. Finishing with a time of just over 2:34:56, I was proud to have completed the race among hundreds of runners, placing 7,737th out of over 13,600 participants by gender. For those considering a half marathon, even without intense training, I recommend prioritizing consistency, listening to your body, pacing yourself calmly, and surrounding yourself with motivating elements such as music or running groups. Crossing the finish line brings an unparalleled sense of achievement and is well worth the effort.
