I survived

🤍 I survived #twoundertwo , I remember having my baby in September 2019 and going back to work 4 weeks later in October 2019 … I’m going to be honest being a #sahm was just not in the cards for me. I wasn’t married, I didn’t have my own place, I technically wasn’t even in a relationship with their daddy. Yes we had somewhere to stay where I could’ve been without a job for a while with no pressure and expectations (I must always acknowledge my support system) I could’ve even went to school but my mental health couldn’t handle kids 24/7 or not having my OWN money.. being a SAHM is a job that literally never ends, you never get a break from. (So me personally unless that opportunity presents itself with childcare and a Hefty monthly allowance it’s a no for me)

🤍 My babies have grown so much over the years ! I wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world. I’ve grown and changed so much over the years. I had my moments of outside almost every night, drinking til I pass out during the day, but I made it through. I’m better. I’m still growing, I’m still transforming and still trying to learn my way through #motherhood .

2024/9/21 Edited to

... Read moreThe journey of motherhood, especially with two children under two, is incredibly unique for every woman. The original post beautifully captures the raw reality of balancing personal needs with the immense demands of parenting, a sentiment many can deeply relate to. Choosing not to be a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) is a valid and often necessary decision for various reasons, whether financial, mental health-related, or a desire for personal fulfillment outside the home. It takes immense courage to forge your own path, particularly when societal expectations might lean another way. For those navigating the intense early years like the journey described from 2019 to seeing the girls grow by 2024, prioritizing mental health isn't a luxury; it's a necessity. The constant demands of caring for infants and toddlers can lead to burnout, anxiety, and a sense of lost identity. It’s crucial to acknowledge that it's okay not to be okay sometimes and to seek support when needed. This might look like leaning on your support system for breaks, finding a therapist, or even just carving out small moments of quiet for yourself, whether it's a quick coffee alone or a short walk. Financial independence, as highlighted in the original post, is another significant factor for many moms. Having your 'own money' can provide a sense of security, control, and personal achievement that contributes positively to overall well-being. Balancing a career with young children requires meticulous planning, a strong support network (be it family, friends, or reliable childcare), and a good dose of self-compassion. There will be days when you feel like you're excelling at work but falling short at home, and vice versa. It’s a continuous juggle, and acknowledging that perfection is unattainable is key. Reflecting on personal growth, from overcoming moments of struggle to becoming 'better' and 'still growing,' offers a powerful message. Motherhood is a transformative experience, pushing you to your limits but also revealing strengths you never knew you had. It’s a continuous learning curve, and embracing the imperfections, celebrating small victories, and allowing yourself grace are vital steps. Whether your path involves a traditional SAHM role, a full-time career, or a blend of both, the most important thing is to create a life that supports your well-being and allows you to be the best version of yourself, for both you and your children.
