Harvest Time: Red Onions, Scallions & Garlic 🧄🧅
Y’all remember when I planted these onions, scallions, and garlic?
Well it’s officially harvest time 🙌🏾
These front two beds came through with red onions, juicy scallions, and some fire garlic 🔥
💡Growing Tip Recap:
• Plant in loose, well-draining soil with plenty of sun
• Use a nitrogen-rich fertilizer early on, then switch to potassium-based once bulbs start forming
• Water deeply but don’t flood—roots like moisture, not mud
• When stems yellow & flop, that’s your cue they’re ready to come up!
🧅 Now what? Curing time.
That means laying your harvest in a shaded, dry spot with airflow for 2–4 weeks.
This helps toughen up the outer skin for long-term storage and locks in that flavor 😋
👇🏾Tell me this: Have you ever grown your own onions or garlic?
What variety did you plant—or want to try next season?
