How I stopped having chronic yeast infections & BV

2024/4/6 Edited to

... Read moreChronic yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis (BV) can be incredibly challenging to overcome, as many women know. During my four years battling these conditions, I found that conventional treatments often fell short, leading to cycles of frustration and discomfort. Initially, I relied heavily on antibiotics, which may have led to imbalances in my microbiome. Instead of solely depending on medication, I shifted my focus to lifestyle and dietary changes that ultimately facilitated my recovery. One significant area I concentrated on was gut health. Research suggests a strong correlation between our gut health and vaginal microbiome; when one is compromised, the other often suffers as well. I began taking daily probiotics rich in strains like Lactobacillus acidophilus, known to support vaginal health. Alongside, I increased my water intake to half my body weight in ounces and prioritized nourishing foods to reduce inflammation. I also evaluated the personal care products I used. Fragrance-laden products can disrupt the natural balance of vaginal flora, so I switched to 100% organic tampons and pads, and explored natural alternatives like boric acid suppositories, which have antifungal properties, to manage symptoms. Additionally, I made the conscious decision to limit refined sugars, fast food, and other inflammatory foods, which had a noticeable positive impact on my overall health. Finally, recognizing the importance of mental well-being, I ensured I managed stress through daily exercise and good sleep. Making these holistic lifestyle adjustments not only contributed to my recovery journey but also helped in regaining my confidence. If you're navigating similar struggles, know that you’re not alone, and that real healing is attainable through tailored approaches that honor your body’s needs.

Dealing with this right now. I started getting them a lot in the 3rd trimester of my pregnancy and they have come back full force almost 2 year later now that I’ve completely stopped breastfeeding. I’m positive it is hormonal related.
