Painful Period Supports

painful periods are common, but not normal.

that’s right, we don’t have to suffer ladies!!!

as someone who used to deal with painful periods, now mine come and go with ease. i even forget i’m on it most of the time 🥴

🟪 Ginger

can be in capsule form, tea or tinctures. this is great for in the moment pain. Pure Encapsulations is a high quality brand. try about 2000mg for pain relief.

🟪Magnesium

now you should actually take magnesium daily to see optimal results. anything up to 400mg should be okay for most people. I personally love Just Ingredients brand because it is super high quality and it’s 2 pills with 400mg. while most brands you have to take 1-4 pills for a small dosage (ex. 3 pills for 75mg)- that’s a no for me.

🟪Vitamin E

quality is important here. you want it to be bio available- not synthetic. Integrative Therapeutics is the brand i use. Mito life is also a good one (PUFA protect). you want to take this with a meal containing fat, and actually fT soluble vitamins are better digested when chewed. so i bite the capsule, the liquid comes out, and I spit the capsule out. best if taken everyday.

🟪castor oil packs

my fav brand is Queen of thrones. work your way up to 3-4x a week. i love sleeping with it. don’t use when your menstruating. has SO many benefits.

🟪 raw carrot salads

great for gut, liver and hormones. raw whole carrots have unique fibers that detoxify estrogen, remove endotoxins and antifungal properties. recipe:

1-2 shredded whole carrots

2tsp-1T coconut oil or olive

1-3tsp apple cider vinegar

pinch of sea salt (i love maldon’s sea salt flakes)

best if eaten everyday during your luteal phase. if you are short on time- just eat a whole raw carrot.

🟪Cramp bark

use this tincture 5 days leading up to your period & during.

🟪Red raspberry leaf tea

drink this tea 5 days leading up to your period. OR drink Traditional Medicinals healthy cycle tea (what i use). BONUS: add cramp bark tincture, or liver supportive teas/tinctures to your cup! i use Elix Cycle balance tincture & it is life changing for period symptoms.

🟪Liver supportive teas/tinctures

burdock root, dandelion root, milk thistle, turmeric, peppermint, schisandra berry, etc.

tinctures: Wise woman herbals, Earthley, Global healing center, organic olivia, wooden spoon herbs, zuma, star west botanicals, anima mundi apothecary, etc are all high quality.

... Read morePainful periods affect many women, yet understanding effective remedies can significantly improve comfort. Not only can dietary changes help, but supplements like magnesium and vitamin E may reduce discomfort. Additionally, herbal remedies such as cramp bark and red raspberry leaf tea have traditional uses for menstrual support. Many find that engaging in healthy eating habits, like incorporating raw carrot salads, can also be beneficial. The high fiber content aids in detoxifying the body, potentially alleviating estrogen-related symptoms. Supplementing with liver-supportive herbs like milk thistle and dandelion root can enhance hormonal balance. Regular practices, such as using castor oil packs, promote relaxation during menstruation, while both ginger and magnesium are known for their pain-relieving properties. Making adjustments to your routine can lead to lasting relief. By incorporating these strategies, women can enjoy a renewed sense of well-being and ease during their periods.
