... Read moreHyperfixation is something many people experience—it's that intense focus on a particular topic or activity that can sometimes take over your thoughts and time. As someone who’s passionate about LEGO and identifying as a nerd, I’ve found that these intense interests bring immense joy and a sense of fulfillment. While some might feel overwhelmed by their hyperfixations, I see them as a unique part of who I am. LEGO, in particular, has been a comforting and creative outlet for me. Building intricate models allows me to channel my focus productively, creating something tangible and fun. Sometimes, friends or family don’t fully understand why I get so excited talking about my hobbies; in fact, I often find myself apologizing for yapping about my current hyperfixations. But gradually, I’ve learned that sharing my passions openly helps connect with like-minded people and breaks down stereotypes about what it means to be a 'nerd girl.' Through embracing my interests without reservation, I also practice being authentic and unapologetic about my enthusiasm. Whether it’s discussing a new LEGO set, diving into a fandom, or sharing my hyperfixation experiences, expressing myself brings positivity and builds confidence. If you relate to having hyperfixations or intense hobbies, my advice is to celebrate them—they enrich your life and can lead to meaningful communities and friendships. Ultimately, being unable to 'be quiet' about these passions isn’t a flaw; it’s a reflection of deep engagement with what you love. So if you catch yourself going on about your favorite hobby, remember it’s a sign of genuine excitement and creativity—embrace it!
