Day 48 of starting solids and it looks like we had a bad reaction to something that we ate 😭🫣 so I’m doing a bit of a tummy reset! I think I know what it was that made him react this way but I’m gonna give it a week or so see if he reacts again and then go from there 💙🥣! Did your baby ever have a bad reaction to any of the foods that they have tried? 🫠

Starting solids is an exciting yet sometimes unpredictable journey, especially during the first couple of months. Around day 48, many parents encounter challenges like unexpected food reactions, as babies’ digestive systems are still learning how to handle new foods. From personal experience, after introducing a variety of purees and soft chunks, my little one showed signs of stomach upset, prompting me to pause and reset his tummy before proceeding further. It’s crucial to approach this phase with patience and careful observation. Identifying which food triggers a reaction can be tricky because reactions might not be immediate and could vary in severity. Keeping a detailed food diary helps track what has been introduced and when symptoms occur. For example, in our case, certain fruits seemed to cause discomfort, so we decided to withhold them temporarily and focus on gentler options like mashed sweet potatoes and pureed carrots. In addition to dietary adjustments, ensuring plenty of hydration and offering breast milk or formula can soothe your baby's digestive system during a tummy reset period. Remember, every baby is unique; what causes a reaction in one might be perfectly fine for another. Consulting a pediatrician is always recommended if symptoms persist or worsen. For parents navigating baby-led weaning, sharing experiences within communities like #babyledweaning and #startingsolids on platforms such as TikTok has been invaluable. These forums provide peer support, practical tips, and reassurance that occasional setbacks are part of the process. By embracing a flexible approach and listening to your baby's cues, you can create a positive and healthful introduction to solid foods that sets the foundation for lifelong healthy eating habits.
