I like to use ingredients like cooked lentils, black beans, or chickpeas as the base because they provide great texture and protein. Adding finely chopped mushrooms and oats helps bind the mixture while boosting flavor. A crucial tip is seasoning generously with garlic, onion powder, soy sauce, and fresh herbs like parsley or basil to create that aromatic, savory taste meat-eaters adore. For binding, flax egg (ground flaxseed mixed with water) works extremely well as a plant-based substitute for eggs. Once formed into balls, I either bake or pan-fry them until crispy on the outside yet tender inside. These vegan meatballs pair wonderfully with tomato sauce over pasta, in sandwiches, or served as a protein-packed snack. Overall, making your own vegan meatballs at home ensures cleaner ingredients and lets you customize flavors exactly to your liking, which is a rewarding experience for anyone transitioning to or maintaining a plant-based diet.
