... Read moreWhen I first started the keto diet, I encountered so many misconceptions that almost discouraged me from continuing. For example, the myth that you can’t build muscle on keto seemed hard to believe, but my personal experience has proven otherwise. Combining regular strength training with keto has helped me shed fat while gaining lean muscle, making my body feel stronger and more toned than ever. Another myth I’ve learned to unlearn is the idea that keto isn’t sustainable. Keto isn’t about permanently cutting out carbs or obsessing over every meal. For me, it's about creating a healthy lifestyle where carbs can be enjoyed occasionally without guilt. Moderation and flexibility made it easy to maintain keto long-term without feeling deprived. As for cholesterol concerns, I initially worried when my numbers changed. Yet, after understanding that an increase in HDL (good cholesterol) and lower triglycerides are signs of improved heart health, I felt reassured. Tracking blood work and working with my healthcare provider helped me see keto’s positive impact rather than fearing it. Lastly, the biggest lesson was learning that carbs aren’t the enemy. Eating carbs a few times a month within a balanced diet doesn’t harm progress. It’s the daily overconsumption that leads to problems, not the occasional indulgence. Finding this balance personally has made keto feel much more enjoyable and realistic. Overall, unlearning these myths transformed my approach. Keto is a flexible, health-supporting lifestyle when understood properly, and dispelling these misconceptions can help others find success and well-being on their own keto journey.
