You don’t know me or my past.
My past isn’t all that pretty. Part of the reason why my teeth is the way they are. It messes up my self worth and how I see myself in the mirror. It’s hard enough that I have to relive what I’ve been through with PTSD and seeing visions almost every single day. There’s enough hate in this world! Let’s all be kind to one another no matter their appearance.
Living with the weight of a difficult past can deeply affect how we view ourselves, especially when those experiences influence our appearance and mental health. From personal experience, I understand how trauma such as PTSD can create a daily battle—not only with painful memories but also with invisible struggles like visions or flashbacks. These experiences often erode our confidence, making something as simple as looking in the mirror a moment filled with self-doubt. One important lesson I’ve learned is how crucial kindness is—not just from others but towards ourselves. When society tends to focus on outer appearances, it’s easy to feel isolated or judged. However, by practicing compassion and empathy, we can help create an environment where people feel seen beyond their surface. It’s empowering to remind yourself that your worth is not defined by physical features or scars from the past. Additionally, support systems play a vital role in healing. Connecting with communities that understand trauma or participating in therapy helped me rebuild my sense of self-worth. Small acts of kindness from strangers or friends can also brighten those tough days, offering a little light amidst darkness. Ultimately, this journey is about resilience—finding strength within to face each day, embracing imperfections, and encouraging others to do the same. We all carry stories that shape us, but those stories don’t have to control our future or how we treat one another. Let’s choose kindness, understanding, and acceptance, fostering a world where everyone feels valued regardless of their past or appearance.
