🔁 Recurrent BV add this to your underwear laundry

What You’ll Need:

• Underwear (preferably cotton)

• A large bowl or basin

• Boiled water (still hot but not scalding)

• Dettol Antiseptic Liquid (original or antibacterial

• Tongs or a spoon

Instructions:

1. Boil Water

Boil enough water to fully submerge your underwear. Once boiled, let it cool slightly (to avoid damaging fabric or causing burns) — ideally around 60–70°C (140–158°F)

2. Place Underwear in Bowl

Put the clean (pre-washed) underwear into the basin.

3. Pour Boiled Water

Carefully pour the hot water over the underwear until it’s fully submerged.

4. Add Dettol

Add about 1–2 capfuls of Dettol Antiseptic Liquid per liter of water. Stir gently using a spoon or tongs.

5. Soak

Let the underwear soak for 15–30 minutes. This allows Dettol to disinfect properly.

6. Rinse Thoroughly

After soaking, remove the underwear and rinse it well under cool running water to remove any residual Dettol.

7. Dry Completely

... Read moreRecurrent bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a common condition caused by an imbalance of the natural bacteria in the vagina, and maintaining proper hygiene, especially with underwear, plays a significant role in managing and preventing BV recurrence. Apart from using antiseptic solutions like Dettol, it’s important to choose breathable fabrics like cotton underwear, which help reduce moisture and bacterial growth. Dettol contains Chloroxylenol w/v 4.8%, a powerful antiseptic agent effective for personal hygiene and disinfection. When used at the recommended dilution of 1–2 capfuls per liter of boiled water, it kills bacteria that may contribute to BV. For thorough effectiveness, ensure the water is hot but not so hot as to damage fabric—optimal temperatures are between 60–70°C (140–158°F). While soaking underwear, avoid mixing it with other laundry to prevent cross-contamination. After soaking, rinse underwear thoroughly under cool running water to remove all antiseptic residues, which might otherwise irritate delicate skin. Finally, drying underwear completely, preferably under direct sunlight, leverages ultraviolet rays as a natural disinfectant. In addition to laundry hygiene, women prone to recurrent BV should maintain overall genital hygiene by avoiding harsh soaps or douches, wearing loose-fitting clothes, and changing out of wet clothes promptly. Regular gynecological check-ups can also help monitor and manage BV. Using Dettol Liquid for washing underwear complements a holistic feminine hygiene routine. Incorporating these steps within your laundry ritual increases the likelihood of reducing bacterial buildup that triggers BV, supporting long-term vaginal health and comfort.
