How to get rid of this red line on my stomach?

So, I have this red line on my stomach that actually looks like a scar but it's not. I never did any surgery in this area. I am not fat, I'm actually medium but depending on how I sit my stomach "folds" in way that makes this scar(?) get more red. Me and my friends always joke that this is a scar from when a guy attacked me and sliced me with a knife.

So yeah, I would like to get rid of it (which I don't think it's possible) or at least use something that would make it less red. Some days it is extremely red.

It's so frustrating when you have a mark that looks like a scar but seemingly appeared out of nowhere. I've actually heard of a few reasons why people get these horizontal red lines on their stomach, especially ones that seem to get more prominent with certain postures, just like you described. It’s definitely not a knife wound, thankfully! Often, these 'red lines on stomach' are what we call skin creases or folds. Our skin is incredibly pliable, and when we sit or bend in certain ways repeatedly, especially if we have a little extra skin or natural folds, these areas can experience friction and pressure. This constant rubbing can lead to irritation and post-inflammatory erythema (PIE), which simply means persistent redness after some form of irritation. Think about how red your arm can get after leaning on a rough surface for too long – it's a similar principle. The fact that it gets redder when you sit really points to this being a crease line or fold issue. It's not a true scar, but the skin cells in that area are reacting to the repeated stress. Sometimes, even the kind of clothing we wear can contribute! Tight waistbands or fabrics that don't breathe well can rub against the skin, causing a 'red line on abdomen' that mimics a scar-like mark. It's subtle, but over time, it can become quite noticeable. So, what can we do about these tricky red lines? Here are a few things I've learned and tried, which might help reduce the redness and make them less noticeable: Firstly, moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! Keeping the skin in that area well-hydrated is crucial. Use a rich, emollient cream or balm, especially one with ingredients known for skin barrier repair like ceramides, hyaluronic acid, or shea butter. This helps the skin heal and become more resilient to friction. Secondly, consider gentle exfoliation. I'm not talking about harsh scrubs! A mild chemical exfoliant, like a lotion with a low percentage of lactic acid or glycolic acid, used a few times a week, can help with skin cell turnover and fade any lingering redness or discoloration. Always patch test first, especially on sensitive areas. Thirdly, reduce friction and pressure. This might mean opting for looser clothing around your waist, especially when you're sitting for long periods. If you notice it gets worse with certain pants or belts, try switching them out. Pay attention to your posture too; sometimes just a slight adjustment can reduce the constant creasing. Fourth, look for soothing and anti-inflammatory ingredients in your skincare. Aloe vera, Centella Asiatica (Cica), chamomile, and niacinamide are all fantastic for calming red, irritated skin. Applying a serum or cream with these ingredients can visibly reduce the angry red appearance. Finally, sun protection is always a good idea, even if that area isn't constantly exposed. If there's any discoloration, UV rays can make it darker or more persistent. Remember, consistency is key, and skin takes time to heal and regenerate. It’s how you sit. Either sit with your back straight or don’t worry about it because you can’t fix them. There is nothing wrong with it it’s just how your skin creases when you sit. You could have the flattest stomach and you still get them!
