To successfully create this Blueberry Lemon Sourdough Loaf, start with a high-quality sourdough starter that is active and bubbly. The fermentation process with this starter gives the bread its distinctive taste and chewy texture. You will also need all-purpose flour, water, salt, and fresh blueberries, along with lemon zest and juice for that vibrant citrus kick. Use an autolyse method by mixing the flour and water first, allowing it to rest before adding your starter and other ingredients. During the bulk fermentation stage, the bread will develop structure and air bubbles, essential for a good rise. Gently fold in the blueberries and lemon zest during this phase to evenly distribute the flavors without crushing the berries. Shaping your loaf comes next, followed by a final proofing period.
