Growth 🥹
We just got back from vacation, and I just love his little life 🥹💙
He's been exploring, and making memories. Autism aside, he's still just a little boy enjoying the world around him.
Sometimes I get so caught up in the everyday challenges and the busy autism lifestyle that I forget to stop and realize just how much OJ is growing and changing.
As a parent of a child with autism, I can deeply relate to the experience of feeling overwhelmed by daily routines, therapy sessions, and milestones. It’s easy to become so focused on goals and progress that the pure joy of watching your child simply enjoy life can be overlooked. Taking a step back to appreciate these moments—like seeing a child explore new environments or create lasting memories—reminds us of the beauty in their growth. During one of our recent vacations, I noticed how the freedom from our usual busy schedule allowed my child to express his curiosity and excitement in ways we don’t always see at home. These experiences highlight how important it is to balance structured therapy with opportunities for unstructured play and discovery. It’s in these moments that children blossom and surprise us. For parents navigating the autism journey, embracing each stage of development, no matter how small it seems, is essential. The progress might not always be linear, but every smile, new word, or step forward is worth celebrating. Pausing to reflect on these victories can bring renewed hope and strength. Sharing these vulnerable and beautiful experiences can build a supportive community where parents feel understood and less alone. Every child’s story is unique, but the shared commitment to growth and love is universal. Remembering to cherish the simple joys amid challenges can transform the parenting journey into one filled with gratitude and wonder.
