We got the mapo tofu lunch set and the dandanmien lunch set. mapo tofu 🍛was delicious but after a while it got quite one dimensional and jelat, so I wouldn’t go there again oops 😬
Wanted to see what’s the hype here and we got the spicy salami pizza 🍕 , fried calamari 🦑 and gricia spaghetti 🍝. my favourite has to be the spicy salami pizza because it was a pretty special flavour and the spicy kick was good. The calamari was not what i expected because it was the tiny squid and not the big rings. Overall pretty decent but nothing super special bah…
wah this meal IS SO YUMMERS. my friend and i got the hotcakes and pistachio n mortadella sandwich, with apple pie houjicha latte and melon milk houjicha latte. the hotcakes is soo freaking delicious 😋 🥞, it like sweet cause got honey drenched over it and there’s a jam layer on top of the hotcake. super thick hotcake and it ran out right after us so better go there early (before 1pm) during lunch. as for the sandwich, the sandwich is also super yummers, the ham was salty and the pistachio flavour is rlly faint (idl pistachio so this was good to me). there is also apple chutney in it, my friend and i don’t rlly think it’s necessary but it does not matter anyways cause still delicious 🤤 WOULD GO AGAIN 100% recommend. The drinks are tasty but on the expensive side, $8.50 per drink.
... Read moreIf you're diving into the tofu scene in Singapore, it’s worth knowing that mapo tofu can be a hit or miss depending on your taste preferences. My experience at Chen’s showed that while the dish started off delicious, the flavor became a bit monotonous after a while, which might not appeal to every tofu lover. When trying tofu dishes, it's a good idea to balance rich flavors with other elements to avoid the feeling of heaviness.
Beyond tofu, Singapore’s dining spots offer a range of tantalizing options. At Casa Vostra in Jem, the spicy salami pizza stood out with its unique punch, proving that menus here cater to more than just traditional tastes. The fried calamari surprised me because it used tiny squid instead of large rings, which was an unexpected twist—great to know if you have a preference.
Beth offers a charming café experience with crowd-pleasers like thick, honey-drenched hotcakes that disappear fast, so early visits are recommended. Their pistachio mortadella sandwich also balances salty and sweet elements, though the pistachio flavor is subtle. Pair your meal with their specialty lattes, such as apple pie houjicha or melon milk houjicha, for an indulgent treat, though be prepared for premium pricing.
Exploring these eateries shows that Singapore’s tofu menus and beyond can be diverse and satisfying. Whether you’re a tofu enthusiast or just in the mood for a flavorful lunch, balancing familiar dishes with innovative flavors can elevate your culinary outing.
