I think this place is quite aesthetic and clean, interior is cute and there’s quite a lot of people on a tuesday evening. Drinks are lovely.
BUT for the food, I think it’s very mid, not so tasty or wtv. IFL they do too much to the food and it tastes really weird, it’s as if there’s flavour but bland.. will not go back again. The nori clam pasta was smokey and bland idk man i expected a bit more salt. Then the karaage linguine…… tasted like flowers, very weird and the “karaage” was 1 pc cut into 4 slices ?? The drinks were good. the pork jowl was good also, cacio e pepe fries are delicious and the barramundi is rlly good as well.
wah the portion is humongous,, SOOO GOOD. staff is very kind and approachable. gen z cafe i guess. The crispy chicken thigh mafaldine pasta was soo delicious and the grilled CHEESE omg yummers. we got some pastries as well.
... Read moreVisiting a variety of eateries in Singapore offers an intriguing glimpse into the city’s diverse culinary scene. From my own experiences, I find that Ambiance really sets the tone for an enjoyable meal. For example, Cloudfields provides a clean, aesthetic environment that attracts quite a crowd even on weekdays. While their drinks stand out as lovely, some dishes like the nori clam pasta and karaage linguine may not meet everyone’s expectations, being noted as somewhat bland or unusual in flavor. It’s interesting how the preparation style can sometimes mute the expected taste profile.
On the other hand, places like Merci Marcel at Tiong Bahru shine with dishes such as barramundi risotto and ravioli that are excellently executed—something worth returning for. I’ve noticed that when a restaurant pays attention to classic flavors and presentation, it often wins repeat customers.
KŌBASHĪ especially impressed me with their generous portion sizes and friendly staff, creating a Gen Z cafe vibe. The crispy chicken thigh mafaldine pasta and grilled cheese were exceptional comfort foods, complemented perfectly by their appealing pastries. Portion size and welcoming service are important factors that keep me coming back.
Lastly, L'antica Pizzeria Da Michele may be on the pricier side but is ideal for sharing among groups, offering satisfying pizzas and pastas that justify the expense.
Overall, exploring these eateries gave me insights into how food quality and atmosphere vary even within similar culinary categories. While some dishes may disappoint, others can elevate a meal to an experience worth repeating. When dining out, I recommend considering both the ambiance and menu highlights alongside personal taste preferences to find what suits you best.
