BMA executives have agreed to a 69-year additional expenditure framework of more than 32 billion baht to pay off the Green Line debt, accelerating action to reduce the interest burden.

At the meeting of the Bangkok Executive Council agreed on the principle and the framework for the 2026 budget of additional expenditure for the year 2026 budget, with a shortfall from the cumulative amount of Bangkok in a framework not exceeding 32,625,106,200 baht. The main objective is to expedite the payment of transportation wages and maintenance costs of the Green Line project. Extension 1 and Extension 2 (from 1 June 64 to 31 August 68) It is predicted that the settlement will take place around November 2025. However, the governor of Bangkok has made a policy that if it can be processed for settlement earlier than scheduled, such as by October, it should be accelerated to reduce the interest burden.
The acceleration of this debt is intended to allow Bangkok to benefit from interest savings as interest rates continue to move. This is in accordance with the judgment of the Federal Court on September 29, 2025, which requires Bangkok and Bangkok to pay off the debt, including the outcome of further negotiations, which Bangkok has given Bangkok to negotiate by the outcome of the negotiations. Mass Transit will adjust the payment schedule from October 2025 to November 15, 2025, and will reduce the interest rate from MLR plus 1% to MLR from April 1, 2025 until the payment date (no later than November 15, 2025).
