Tradition of stirring rice thip
Continuing the 63-year-old tradition of stirring rice thip, supplementing the Songkran Festival, 2026
Today (Apr 12, 69), at the New Temple, Chanthaburi, Chanthaburi, Chanthaburi, Chanthaburi Provincial Governor, is the opening chairman of the Thanaburi Tradition as part of the 2026 Songkran Tradition Promotion Program organized by Chanthaburi Municipality, attended by Chanthaburi Provincial Vice Governor Jinta Rat Nui as well as representatives from government, state enterprises, the private sector and the public.
For the stirring rice tradition, it is considered an important tradition that has been a community partner and has been passed down for more than 63 years. It is often held as the inauguration of the beginning of the Songkran Festival. This activity not only reflects the traditional way of life and strength of the community, but also is deeply connected to Buddhist faith, simulating the events of Buddhism, when Mrs. Suchada once stirred up the Mathupayas rice (thip rice) to be offered to the Buddha before His enlightenment, in which the villagers held the belief that together stirring and taking the thip rice to eat, would strengthen the auspiciousness of life for herself and her family.
Thip rice, which has been completed and stirred, will be distributed as a meal and supplement to the general public. The organizers will distribute it during the Songkran Tradition Promotion Parade in the area of the Chand Lovers Stadium at 3: 00 p.m. today.
