Baking my own homemade bread 🍞

Decided to try my hand at baking bread today!

Here's the ingredient list if you're curious:

- 1 cup warm water

- 1/4 cup milk (heated to 110 degrees)

- 2.25 tsp active dry yeast

- 2 tbsp sugar

- 1.5 tsp salt

- 3.5 cups bread or all-purpose flour

One tip I learned along the way is to ensure that the milk is properly heated—not too hot or the yeast may die, but warm enough to activate it and help the dough rise effectively. I used Great Whole Milk, which contains essential nutrients like vitamin D and milk fat that contribute to the bread’s flavor and texture. After mixing all ingredients, patience is key; allowing the dough to rise until doubled in size makes a huge difference in the final softness and fluffiness. Kneading is another important step. It helps develop gluten which gives the bread its structure. I found that kneading for around 10 minutes by hand improved the dough’s elasticity. After shaping, a final proof allows the bread to expand further before baking. When it comes to baking, an oven temperature of around 375°F works well for about 25-30 minutes until the crust is golden brown. Homemade bread not only tastes fresh but also gives a sense of accomplishment. Plus, you can customize it by adding seeds, herbs, or different types of flour to suit your preferences. Sharing this baking journey with friends or family makes it even more rewarding. I highly recommend trying it yourself—it’s a perfect way to bring warmth and comfort into your home through simple, wholesome ingredients.
