A few Pros and Cons of Phlebotomy 💉

👍Pros :Starting pay is decent ( I’m in NOLA starting pay I believe is $15/$16 now) * shift differentials*

👍Pros :A easy way to get into the healthcare field without an degree

👍Pros :There is always overtime available

👍Pros :Some facilities are willing to train you to become an lab assistant or a Med Tech

👍Pros :Shift options 4a-1230p, 12p-830p, 8p-630a inpatient. Outpatient/Clinics 6:45a-3:15p, 8:30-5p *depends on the facility*

🤔Cons:Not every patient is easy going

🤔Cons:You might have some combative patients🤔Cons:Might run out of butterflies *depends on the facility*

🤔Cons:If you can’t tolerate seeing a little bit of everything this might not be for you

Additional Tips:

•It is ok if you can’t get every patient

•Don’t be scared to stick, the more you stick the better you’ll be.

•Learn as much as you can so you can do different things in the lab eventually.
