Muscle is denser and takes up less space than fat, so even if your weight stays the same or decreases slowly, your clothes might fit better, and your body shape changes significantly. This is especially true for those new to strength training or returning to a fitness routine after some time off. Consistency in maintaining a calorie deficit, prioritizing strength training, and consuming enough protein are vital steps to support fat loss and muscle gain. Additionally, managing recovery properly helps maintain workout intensity and frequency. Water retention also plays a role; it can fluctuate due to various factors like diet, sodium intake, and hormonal changes, sometimes concealing fat loss progress. Over time, as your body adjusts, these fluctuations decrease, revealing more noticeable changes on the scale. I recommend tracking progress not only with the scale but also with body measurements, photos, and how your clothes fit. These indicators often provide a more accurate and motivating picture of fat loss progress. Remember, fat loss is a gradual process, and patience combined with a holistic approach to fitness is the best way to achieve lasting results.
