š #B1 -63/64 Raffles City Shopping Centre
Missing Japan? šÆšµ The largest Gyukatsu chain is here to bring Kyoto straight to your plate!
The best part? You get to finish the cooking yourself! Each set comes with a personal hotplate, so you can grill your gyukatsu just the way you like it š„
We went for Sirloin + Chuck Tail Flap ($29) and Sirloin + Beef Tongue ($32). The sirloin was juicy yet not overly fatty, while the beef tongue was rich, chewy and came with its own umami sauce š¤¤. The chuck tail flap was a bit tough for our liking.
Portions are slightly smaller than in Japan, but unlimited cabbage and friendly staff who guide you on how to eat it right make it feel like a full Kyoto experience!
When visiting Gyukatsu Kyoto Katsugyu in Raffles City, I found that the interactive cooking experience truly sets it apart from other Japanese restaurants in Singapore. Each set offers a variety of beef cuts prepared with a crispy deep-fried crust while remaining tender and juicy inside. What I particularly enjoyed was the freedom to sear the meat to my preferred doneness, which made the meal both fun and personalized. The unlimited cabbage and the rich accompaniments like miso soup, rice topped with a soft onsen egg, and the selection of umami sauces enhanced the mealās flavor. Despite the portions being slightly smaller than what you might experience in Japan, the attentive staffās friendly advice and hospitality made the dining experience feel authentic and fulfilling. For those new to gyukatsu or Japanese food in general, reserving your spot at Katsugyu in advance is recommended, especially on weekends, to enjoy a hassle-free meal. Whether youāre a longtime fan of Japanese cuisine or trying gyukatsu for the first time, this place offers a satisfying blend of traditional Kyoto flavors with a modern twist right in the heart of Singaporeās Raffles City.
